Bean experiment

So what happens if you put two beans in ziplock bag with a paper towel and some water? Here's the results over a month period. Quite interesting that it took more time for small red been to start growing. Although at the end of the month it became bigger than the blackeyed pea and is killing it by taking away all the resources (water).

False memory

There is something called a false memory effect that we all can experience in lives. I want to make people aware that these things happen and we can't be sure in our memories when sources are not 100% valid. It happens when a lot of information that appears to us is meaningfully (semantically) related. We draw associations and think of similar things that might not necessarily were presented to us.  Sometimes we even create memories with the events that never happened. It is possible to have this effect after therapy or hypnosis. People think they recover suppressed memories but in reality their mind is playing with them by making up something that never existed. Here is a story of a man who were sentenced to life in prison because his daughter testified against him. She said she recovered memories from 20 years ago of him killing a child. The evidence is now considered invalid because she was under hypnosis when these memories appeared. It is possible that therapist led her to it.

Other cultures

How do we see other cultures? What do we think when we see people who are different? We don't like things we don't understand. This is where discrimination and racism come from. We should learn more about different cultures!
I came across a very interesting video about Russia. What comes into your mind when you think about Russian people and country itself? Tanks, bears, and vodka. Unfortunately, it is not the way you imagine but people stereotype without having any background knowledge. Here's an example:

Yes, winters are cold! Yes, people drink! Although, they don't drink all the time :) We don't have bears running around and no tanks on the streets. What a disappointment... :)

Teach Nutrition

Nutrition is very important. We all live a life with hectic schedules and sometimes don't think about the things we eat. Poor nutrition leads to many medical problems including heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Diabetes is the number one problem in USA. So what can we do to make it better? Teach children! Eating habits establish when we are young. We continue to follow the same pattern and eat same things that we did when we were children. Here's one of the good ways to show the importance of the environment, teach how plants grow, and discover that fruits and vegetables are delicious! Enjoy the video!
